The Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund’s mission is to leverage municipal engagement to improve the financial stability of households by embedding financial empowerment strategies into local government infrastructure. The Fund works with mayoral administrations and those interested in supporting them to actually “pull triggers” -- and measures its success accordingly.
CFPB, NYC, and CFE Fund Announce Partnership

CFPB Director Richard Cordray, Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, and Commissioner Jonathan Mintz announced a partnership with the CFE Fund to replicate local consumer financial protection capacity in cities across the nation, which was hailed as good for both local needs and robust federal enforcement. National Financial Empowerment Center Initiative

The CFE Fund has announced a $16.2 million initiative to launch local Financial Empowerment Centers in 5 cities based on the New York City model and in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies. The five replication cities are: Denver, CO; Lansing, MI; Nashville, TN; Philadelphia, PA; and San Antonio, TX.

CFE Wins National Assets and Opportunity Award
The CFE Coalition won the 2012 CFED Assets and Opportunity Award. Presented in Washington D.C., this award is given every two years to groups and individuals who are advancing the field of asset building in the US and increasing the use of financial products and services that allow families to move up the economic ladder.
CFE Fund launch at NYSE/Euronext

CFE Co-Chairs New York City Consumer Affairs Commissioner Jonathan Mintz and San Francisco Treasurer José Cisneros joined the New York Stock Exchange in celebrating NYSE/Euronext's 2012 Financial Literacy Week (April 9-13) and rang the opening bell to mark the launch of the launch of the CFE Fund at Living Cities.
